Peterborough Railway Station

21-Jul-2015

Client:  Peterborough Railway Station

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Background: Thanks to a cycling boom in the area, station owners at Peterborough Railway Station were faced with a rising number of customers arriving on bikes. With limited onsite space, the station managers tasked street furniture manufacturer, Townscape Products, to design cycle racks which could quadruple capacity without using additional space.

Project details: Townscape installed double stack bicycles racks which can hold 144 bikes, four times the number of bikes in the same compared to traditional cycle storage.

Townscapes double stacking racks are made from galvanised steel, feature a security locking loop and are developed in a low maintenance finish

Result: Peterborough Railway Station now has a compact and space efficient solution for bicycles.

A spokesperson for Townscape Products, said: “Peterborough station is doing a great job of promoting public transport and by giving cyclists a safe and secure storage facility for bikes they are also encouraging people to lead a healthier lifestyle."

“The demand for cycle storage space is going to grow and with limited space available at UK stations, offices and car parks double stack racks are an ideal solution.”
