Frequently asked questions
Where is your street furniture manufactured?
We manufacture our full range of street furniture products from our Sutton-In-Ashfield base in Nottinghamshire – in fact, we have been doing so
for over 40 years. This allows us to oversee every stage of the product build from initial preparations right through to spraying and finishing.
This ensures quality control can be maintained and monitored throughout.
With full visibility and control of manufacturing we can certify that our products are built using the highest quality materials to guarantee
they stand the test of time.
Do you provide bespoke street furniture products?
We most certainly do, making street furniture to specific requirements is what we do best. Our products come in a wide range of materials, finishes,
colours and, where appropriate, a choice of accessories. So, whatever the requirements of your town or city project, we can supply street furniture
that is in keeping with the environment and the surrounding architecture.

Absolutely. We are more than happy to provide expert advice over the phone or via email, should you wish to get in touch regarding the specifications
of your project.
We can advise on whether the street furniture you are purchasing requires an on-ground installation or a below ground fix, the dimensions above
and below ground, and the approximate time of installation.
Some of our products can be installed either on or below ground, so in this case, we can also advise on the most appropriate option for your project.
How do I maintain street furniture?
Different street furniture products require different levels of maintenance. This depends on the materials that are used to build them. This also
applies to different models within the same product range.
For example, bollards. Our concrete bollards require minimal maintenance –
mild detergent, warm water and a stiff brush is all it takes to keep these bollards clean. They also retain their colours despite exposure
to the sun.
Timber bollards require further attention as they can become stained. They can
either be washed by hand or sprayed with a pressure washer at no more than 100bar pressure. It is also necessary to apply wood protection annually
to ensure they keep their original lustre.
Many of our bins, benches and planters are finished with a polyester powder coating which is highly effective at providing protection against corrosion and fading. It also helps
to maintain gloss and colour over an extended period of time.
For more information about the maintenance of other products in our street furniture range, please get in touch.
How long does your street furniture last?
This can vary depending on the type of street furniture and its required maintenance. However, we make it our priority to ensure all our products
are manufactured to the highest standards, using a range of highly durable, quality materials including concrete, steel, timber and Performa-Cast
Once installed, our street furniture requires regular maintenance – again, the amount of attention it demands does vary from product to product.
Failure to care for our products when necessary will naturally reduce their longevity.
Is your street furniture able to withstand harsh weather conditions?
Most definitely. The materials we use are of the highest quality and durability, which ensures that all our street furniture can withstand even
the harshest weather conditions – a factor which is particularly important in the UK!
Can street furniture help to improve public security?
Yes, it is the most important function of street furniture.
Street furniture plays a vital role in acting as a highly effective security measure to prevent unforeseen, deliberate targeted attacks on the
public using vehicles – whether that be aimed at pedestrians gathered in high-footfall areas, or high profile public buildings such as airports,
train stations, government buildings and stadiums.
Bins, railings, planters, seating and bollards are all essential physical barriers when it comes to prohibiting vehicle incursion and maintaining
We are one of the leading suppliers of hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) products in the UK. We manufacture counter-terror CT blocks, CT planters
and CT bollards which take into account risks from parked vehicles, encroaching vehicles or high-speed penetrative attacks, and they are all
PAS 68 tested. This is the UK standard and the security industry’s benchmark for HVM equipment. It means the products are crash-tested to ensure
they can withstand vehicle-borne attacks of up to 40mph. Our CT blocks can immobilise a 7.5 tonne vehicle travelling at such speeds. If blocking
vehicle access is the primary reason you are browsing for street furniture, PAS 68 should be your sole consideration.
We would always urge operators of high-risk public spaces to implement such HVM measures and consider the most effective perimeter security solutions
for their projects. We have a dedicated website detailing the features of all our perimeter security products, Concrete Barriers HQ http://www.concretebarriershq.co.uk/,
but we would encourage any further queries to be raised directly with our team who are more than happy to help.
